Augmentation Ethics

As we augment our bodies and our societies with ever more pervasive and possibly invasive sensing, computation, and communication, there comes a point when we ourselves become these technologies. Accordingly we have spent a number of years developing a Code of Ethics on Human Augmentation. pdf

Summarized on behalf of the Decentralized Web Summit chat, the three laws of this code are as follows. slack

i.) the right to know when and how you are being monitored in the real and virtual world;

ii.) the right to monitor the systems or people monitoring you and use that information in crafting your own digital identity;

iii.) the user should be able to understand the world they are in immediately - feedback delayed is feedback denied

I’m also interested in your thoughts on the best path forward for this document. We’ve founded a consortium but we are unsure if having the document live on a website or a wiki is the best option.
